Christmas in Odessa: History

The first Christmas in Odessa was born 60 years ago as a fundraiser for The Women's Club of Odessa. Our purpose was to fund higher education scholarships for local high school seniors, who live in the Appoquinimink School District. With the help and cooperation of Odessa homeowners, we have provided over $300,000 in scholarships to over 200 students. Additionally, we have been able to contribute to many worthwhile community organizations and projects. We are proud to make these contributions to our community, and we are fortunate to have the encouragement of the many fine people who have supported us through the years.

“Peace on earth will come to stay, when we live Christmas every day.” – H.S. Rice
